You are not your job
As I was gaming at the store with W–, he asks me a curious question that reeks of Tyler Durden.
Do you just teach, he asks. And he doesn’t just ask. There’s an emphasis on JUST as in, Do you JUST teach?

I almost want to say, Well, I’m kind of doing THIS right now, which involves me throwing dice on the table and pushing little painted toy soldiers around. But of course, that’s not an answer.
He wants to know if I have any further aspirations, if I’m teacher because I want to write, or if I write because I want to teach, or some combination of writing, teaching, life.
